6/18/09: I was just running some errands and saw this guy walking towards me around the Union Square area. Minus my "do you mind if I shoot you?" It was like a wild west showdown as I swung my camera around and started firing... I'd like more contrast between the cat and the building, but am happy I got the shot at all.

Re why he had the cat on his head: People do crazy things, both good and bad, for money. Once I was done shooting, he asked me if I could spare a couple bucks. He caught me off guard, but I didn't think anything of it, because it was a fair transaction in my mind.

1/16/2009: A view up through the gate of the Downhill House ruins. I struggled to get this shot level, with the holes aligned with the mansion in the distance, but I eventually realized that either time or construction error left these stone walls a bit off center. Details, details...

4/16/09: Brendo clowning on a Grand Central downtown 6 platform, with a rare MTA construction train passing by. With all the money they spend, we should see far more of these.

1/15/09: Today is just a 180 degree turn from yesterday, only with better light on a fortified portion of the Downhill House, with Mussenden Temple to my back. This was built by Frederick Augustus Hervey, the 4th Earl of Bristol and Bishop of Derry, beginning in 1776. He must have been a very busy man... too bad secularism wasn't mainstream, yet.

1/30/09: a small waterfall in Glenariff Forest Park in Northern Ireland. This was a very lush and peaceful place.

7/1/09: Just a friendly horse at Muscoot Farm in Somers, NY

1/14/09: Mussenden Temple on an ominous day. It had been overcast the entire morning and raining on and off, but the clouds broke once they got a certain distance out to sea, allowing for the blue strip of sky. Walking down this path felt very surreal.

1/27/2009: One view of the beautiful Rosapenna links in Co. Donegal. This shot cost me ~$3; basically the value of the ball that I hooked into this lovely grass. Treacherous stuff. I was walking on cloud nine on the front nine, playing well in a true golfer's heaven, then... I forgot how to hit it straight, and there's simply no room for that here. Narrow & nasty.

1/7/09: Fresh produce is brought into Union Square Park on the weekends from local farms. Seeing as I'm not entirely sure what veggie this is, I figured it would be better to take a picture of the cool roots rather than learn how to prepare a dish with it. My guess is "giant green onion." Happy hump-day, everyone!

1/22/09 (no PP): On one side of the trail, a peaceful pine-forest; on the other, a less welcoming plunge into a gorge. Take it easy on those sleds, kids!

2/1/09: My season's been over for a while; this was the sunset over the last Jets game I went to (that mattered).

Here's to a close and tough-fought game this afternoon. I usually root for the underdog, but my coast has my loyalty today. Go Steelers!

2/3/09: Unseasonably warm and dreary, but snow is coming tonight (thank God). No conversion on this one... I was firing B/W only that day... the colors were very limited.

1/28/09: I suppose you could say I was enjoying my frosty beverage so much that I forgot about my friend Ryan... Or maybe I was just studying the bottle, a relic from another time (the Born-on Date was before the exact date that InBev officially took over Anheuser Busch - a travesty, if you ask me). Don't get me wrong, I love the variety of beers that InBev peddles, but AB was something sacred in a time when little else is. I just hope they keep American production and jobs stable. This shot was handheld (both camera & bottle) with a 50mm. The bottle isn't as sharp as I'd like it, but whatever; here's to beer! Prost!

1/6/09: A view of Trinity Church looking West down Wall. Attendance is up these days...

I brought WB up to about 8000K on this one, so that the predominant color of the photo would be orange, thus matching Liz's favorite color/her apartment's color scheme, while keeping the strip of early evening sky natural.

1/11/09: "Aspirations of Men"

I went on a walkabout last night and wound up in Madison Square Park, the original home (first of four) of Madison Square Garden. It was snowing, and the atmospherics were great... the light pollution reflecting back off the clouds added a nice effect to the sky. 6/17/09: an HDR view from the Tuileries up to the Louvre. This shot was taken a few days before and a couple hundred feet back from my Monday daily. You can also see those "poodle" shrubs in the background that were front-and-center in Monday's post. This fountain is famous for its two-headed Mallard, btw...

1/20/09: I was off the grid this weekend and not able to post, but here's one that I took on Friday as I was waiting in Grand Central. I like the divergence of the people, along with the stability of the background. This shot is actually being uploaded right from the camera, so no PP on this one. I hope you all have a fantastic day, and regardless of your political persuasion, enjoy the inauguration.
